Simple ascent, ideal for beginners, equipped with steel cable for its entire length.
From Val d'Ega to the Paolina lift at Passo Costalunga, or continue to Vigo di Fassa or Pera di Fassa and use the cable car and Catinaccio lift to reach the Belvedere at Ciampedìe.
From Rifugio Paolina, head north along trail no. 552. At the first fork, turn right and follow trail no. 551 to reach Passo Vajolon. From Ciampedìe, follow the "Vial de le Feide," then trail no. 551, reaching the pass in about 2 hours.
From Passo Vajolon, the ascent on the north side of Roda di Vaèl follows rocky terrain with broad ledges, not very steep, entirely equipped with steel cables. As always, sure footing and no fear of heights are essential.
A not particularly difficult outing that nonetheless offers stunning panoramic views in the heart of the Catinaccio Group. Ideal for beginner climbers.
Either return via the ascent route or descend the south side (initially trail, then ferrata). In the deep saddle between Roda di Vaèl and the Roda del Diavolo/Croda Davoi, there's the option to turn left onto trail no. 549 (initially equipped) toward Rifugio Roda di Vaèl, already visible. Optional: In good weather and with good fitness, after the final fork you can proceed to the Via Ferrata Masarè (turning right, traverse westward, approx. 1 hour for the ferrata).
