Description

A simple but long ferrata, partly walkable. One exposed point has no safety cable (rated I), followed by a steep descent with rungs and a horizontal traverse (steel cable).

Access & starting point

From Val d'Ega, reach Ponte Nova and turn for Obereggen. From the Oberholz chairlift, go up to the top station at 2090 m (operates from late June to early October).

Approach

From the top station (follow signs), trail no. 18 leads to Forcella dei Camosci, 2620 m. Descend northeast, follow trail marker 18–516 (signs); on the right is the trail to Rifugio Torre di Pisa. Cross the Alta Valsorda basin to Forcella dei Campanili di Dentro, 2590 m.

Route

A long hike requiring good fitness and endurance. The ferrata is just part of the overall route. From Forcella dei Campanili di Dentro, the route continues via Forcella Grande del Latemar. Long ferrata sections at altitude, partly without cables, some on fragile terrain. Sure footing is essential.

Technical Details

In the final ferrata section, there is a difficult passage on rock (I) with steel cable. A short but steep descent, exposed with rungs, followed by a horizontal traverse with cable and exposed holds.

Descent

From Forcella Grande del Latemar, 2620 m (ferrata ends at bivouac), descend briefly (signs) and follow trail no. 18 to the fork below Forcella dei Campanili di Dentro. From there, descend the ascent route.
