Ferrata partly on very steep and exposed terrain. Long approach to the start.
From the north via Passo Rolle to San Martino di Castrozza (1445 m), then to the lower station of the Colverde-Rosetta lift system.
Take the cable car then the funivia to Rifugio Rosetta (2581 m), descend following trail no. 702 then no. 715, Alta Via delle Dolomiti (exposed but safe), to Passo di Ball (2443 m). From the pass, continue toward Rifugio Pradidali. To reach the ferrata, descend below the hut.
Interesting ferrata, not too easy, with spectacular wild scenery. The steel cables are somewhat worn and not always taut. After the ferrata, at Forcella del Porton, you can either ascend toward Rifugio Velo or descend right to the Velo ferrata, then further down to Rifugio Velo della Madonna and Passo Stephen. Return via the Gusella ferrata to Passo di Ball or Rifugio Pradidali.
One of the most difficult ferratas of the Pale di San Martino. Steepest sections are aided with rungs, often exposed. A long traverse leads to a hidden wild gully. Be cautious of loose rock and unstable blocks in the gully. Variants: Several longer variants described, including 9–10 hour routes via Val Canali and Ferrata Buzzati.
From Rifugio Velo della Madonna to San Martino (trail no. 721). Return also possible via Ferrata della Vecchia.
