A decisively airy ascent that unfolds along the Cresta di Masarè. The ferrata is fully equipped, except for a few short walking sections. All steep passages are secured with artificial footholds. Those attempting the traverse from Roda di Vaèl should tackle the ferrata from south to north. For the Masarè crest alone, it's better to climb from the north. Advantages: shorter approach and the more difficult sections are done uphill.
From Val d'Ega, go to the Paolina chairlift at Passo Costalunga, or continue from Vigo di Fassa or Pera di Fassa using the cable car and Catinaccio chairlifts to reach the Belvedere del Ciampedie.
From the Paolina hut, head towards the Christomannos monument on trail no. 539 and continue to Rifugio Roda di Vaèl. From Ciampedie, follow the "Vial de le Feide" trail and the signs to Rifugio Roda di Vaèl, which is reached in 2 hours.
Easy access, beautiful views. The short unequipped sections are walkable on the ferrata itself – mainly on the western side – though at the start of the season, they may be tricky due to snow patches or fresh snow.
The continuous upward climbing requires good physical endurance. Ascents and descents are steep and very exposed along the ridge line. The climb features high-quality rock and abundant holds.
Descend to Rifugio Roda di Vaèl via the easy trail.
