Description

Route only partially equipped with steel cables, mostly walkable as a free hike but with some very exposed sections.

Access & starting point

From Val d'Isarco, passing through Castelrotto, reach the Alpe di Siusi (road to Alpe di Siusi open daily before 9 am and after 5 pm – paid parking at Compatsch). Alternatively: cable car to Alpe di Siusi (from Siusi) or Seiseralm-Express shuttle bus (from Siusi and Castelrotto). Upper station of the Panorama chairlift (operates mid-May to late October).

Approach

From the upper station, take trail no. 2 (signposted) to reach Rifugio Alpe di Tires, 2441 m, open from early May to mid-October.

Route

Long full-day hike requiring fitness and alpine experience. Spectacular panorama on both sides of the ridge between the Dente and the Cima di Terrarossa. From Rifugio Alpe di Tires, follow signs for the route, also marked in red.

Technical Details

Magnificent traverse with a long approach to the ferrata. The Route is only partially equipped with steel cables; the rest is walkable, but especially on the ridge, a sure foot is absolutely essential.

Descent

From Forcella del Dente di Terrarossa (2556 m), descend via the emergency emergency exit and shortcut path to the hut (left and downward, partially equipped). Alternatively, from Cima di Terrarossa (2658 m) head west on trail no. 4 back to Rifugio Alpe di Tires.
