Description

A very varied route, continuously interrupted by sloping ledges. On the ledges, the ascent winds among mountain pines; the risers between the ledges are secured with tightly stretched steel cables and are aided by a ladder. There are some very exposed passages on rock.

Access & starting point

From Dobbiaco in Val Pusteria through the Val di Landro towards Fiames, just before Cortina; or from Cortina heading towards Dobbiaco past Fiames. Parking is in front of Albergo Fiames.

Approach

From the car park (1293 m), follow the marked path (sign in front of Albergo Fiames) southeast, crossing a forest road. Follow the signs and trail markers until a large scree gully that laboriously leads to the base of the wall (signposted). The trail continues with no possibility of protection, crossing a ledge with mountain pines that leads to the start.

Route

A long summit hike that requires good physical condition and experience with via ferratas. On the actual ferrata there are long stretches that are easily walkable.

Technical Details

A long ferrata, interrupted by sloping ledges along which a trail can be easily followed. All steep sections are fully secured with cables.

Descent

From the summit, descend briefly, then follow the trail markers to the right heading north to Forcella del Pomagagnon. Descend the wide scree gully (or slide!) until the start of the pine-covered area. A well-marked path (signposted) leads back to the starting point.
