Via Ferrata Ra Gusela
Description
This via ferrata is short, easy, and consists of two sections. The lower section, which is secured, ascends to the detrital glacial cirque between the peaks of Ra Gusela and Nuvolau. A well-marked, easy trail follows, leading to the second secured section, which ascends to the southern ridge of Nuvolau. A steel cable and a ladder lead to the Nuvolau hut, located near the summit of the same name.
This climb is very suitable for beginners. Expert climbers sometimes do it without climbing gear, but wearing a helmet is still recommended (especially due to the high number of hikers). From Nuvolau, experienced climbers can also tackle the Averau ferrata (see description no. 29) and descend toward Passo Giau.
Access & starting point
From Passo Falzarego to Cortina, shortly before Pocol, turn right towards Passo Giau. Or, coming from Cortina towards Passo Falzarego, after Pocol turn left. Passo Giau is well signposted.
Approach
Right next to the Hotel Ristorante Alpino Passo Giau, follow trail no. 452 until the first junction. Continue to the right on trail no. 443. After about 30 minutes, you reach a fork and ascend to the left along trail no. 438, which is partially steep, until a saddle, from where the first steel cables are visible.

Descent
From Rifugio Nuvolau, descend via the normal route (no. 438) to the Forcella Nuvolau (Rifugio Averau, 2413 m), and follow trail no. 452 along the southwestern walls of Nuvolau, returning to Passo Giau.
