Very long hike with a very short ferrata. Requires good physical condition. The short ferrata is not the main focus — the views are.
From San Lorenzo in Val Pusteria, head through Val Badia toward Longega and then past San Vigilio toward Pederü (alpine lodge) at the end of the valley. There is a paid parking area.
From Pederü (1544 m), follow trail no. 7 toward Rifugio Lavarella (2038 m). Then take trail no. 13 (well-marked) and ascend to Passo Sant'Antonio (2468 m). The ferrata starts there.
From the Giogo di Sant'Antonio, the ferrata is marked with red dots or small cairns ("ometti"). At first, near the ridge, an easy rocky section is crossed. A high plateau leads uphill to 2810 m. Here the protected section of the ferrata begins, which ends shortly after under the Sasso delle Nove summit.
A rewarding overall loop, very long and requiring good physical condition. The short ferrata is of secondary importance; the panorama and environment are unique.
Descent follows the same route as the ascent.
