The Berti Ferrata is the variant for ascending to the Schiara summit after necessarily having done the Sperti or Zacchi Ferrata. It is thus the crowning section, provided the physical condition and weather are favourable.
Via Valsugana to Feltre; from there, continue towards Belluno; turn towards Agordo and follow the signs for Bolzano Bellunese. From Bolzano Bellunese to the hamlet of Case Bortot; park at the barrier and take trail 501, which is initially flat.
Via the Sperti or Zacchi Ferratas up to Bivacco U. from Bernardina, where the ferrata begins.
From Bivacco Bernardina (2320 m), follow easy trails with some scree sections. A couple of steep scrambling sections requiring absolute concentration follow. During the descent along the ridge, do not get distracted by the spectacular panoramic views.
The Berti Ferrata is the logical continuation of the Sperti and Zacchi Ferratas and ascends in steps along the ridge of the Schiara. The short steep sections still require arm strength. In clear weather, the Adriatic is visible in the distance, to the north you can see the Pale di San Martino and the massive south face of the Marmolada.
From the summit, return to Forcella Marmol and descend (approx. 2½ hours) along the ferrata (ex-Marmol, now Ferrata P. Rossi), or continue along the M. Guardiano equipped path to Monte Pelf, then follow trails 511 and 505 back to the refuge (approx. 4½ hours).
